My Approach to therapy:

I am a therapist, but first a human. I have experienced pain, confusion, trauma and loss. Just like you, I am navigating this life for the first time. I take a down-to-earth approach and offer an engaging and interactive experience. I value my relationships with my clients, and I love my job. I offer a warm, authentic and sometimes humorous environment. I want my clients to feel like they can be their true self and share openly. I have been in this field for a long-time, and I come with a long list of evidence-based interventions to help you overcome obstacles and meet your personal or mental health goals.

Why Equine Therapy?

Since I received my first pony as a child, I have had a deep love for horses. That love has only grown deeper with time. To know horses, is to know the profound healing effect that they can have on people. This understanding is what prompted me to open Breaking Ground Therapy and Wellness. I wanted to offer our community something special by incorporating equines into the therapeutic process.

Equine assisted psychotherapy can help clients address a variety of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, and low self-esteem. The unique interaction with horses fosters emotional awareness, communication skills, and trust-building. Clients often find that working with horses provides a safe space to explore their feelings develop coping strategies. This therapeutic approach can enhance personal growth and promote overall well-being.

My Approach to therapy:

As an Associate Clinical Social Worker, I offer a grounded, compassionate space for clients navigating stress, trauma, and major life transitions. With over 15 years of experience in child welfare, substance‑use treatment, and working with incarcerated populations, I understand how deeply life circumstances, systems, and relationships shape a person’s emotional world. My work is rooted in the belief that healing becomes possible when people feel safe, supported, and genuinely heard. My approach is collaborative, direct, and trauma‑informed. I draw from evidence‑based practices such as CBT, mindfulness, and strengths‑based interventions, tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. Clients often share that they appreciate my calm presence, my ability to hold difficult stories without judgment, and my commitment to helping them. Whether you’re working through anxiety, trauma, addiction‑related challenges, or patterns that no longer serve you, I’m here to support your growth at a pace that feels right for you. You don’t have to navigate this alone—your story matters, and you deserve support that honors your resilience.

In a world where strength is often synonymous with silence, I aim to offer a sanctuary for those feeling the weight of their thoughts. I provide a safe haven to navigate the complexities of life, unraveling the knots of uncertainty and pain. My mission is to facilitate personal and relational healing, guiding you towards a place of self-worth and happiness. Let's embark on this journey together, where vulnerability is embraced, and growth is inevitable.

Testimonials

Alisha is truly an expert in her field. My wife and I attended a workshop focused on couples, and we found exactly what we needed with Alisha. She truly understood our needs and provided valuable education during our consultation. I wish I knew a few of the things I learned before getting married. Invaluable information every couple needs!

I have worked with Alisha for many years. She is very skilled, calm and accepting. She is an amazing couple's therapist; I have referred many clients to her.

I’ve been seeing Alisha for years, and she is truly amazing. From our very first session, she created a space where I felt completely comfortable opening up. She balances empathy, understanding, and directness in a way that makes me feel both heard and supported while also challenging me to grow. Her insight and guidance have been invaluable in my personal journey, and I always leave our sessions feeling more empowered and clear-minded. If you’re looking for a therapist who genuinely cares and has the skill to help you navigate life’s challenges, I can’t recommend Alisha enough!

L. A.

I had seen different therapists off and on before I met Alisha. I have now been seeing Alisha for over year. I am a completely different person. I was always stuck...but she was able to identify and point things out no therapist had done before. She just sees things clearly and gives me a safe place to figure out what is best for me.
